SCHEDULE & PURPOSE:

Check-in: Wednesday, January 23, 2008    5:00p.m. - 8:00p.m.

Judging: Thursday, January 24, 2008      5:00p.m.

Move-Out: Saturday, January 26,2008      After Sale before 10:00p.m.

To provide an opportunity for 4-H, FFA, and FHA members to display the projects constructed in agricultural mechanics laboratories and:

  1. To promote the development of skills in agricultural mechanics through competition.
  2. To recognize individual an group accomplishments in the area of agricultural mechanics.
  3. To provide an opportunity for the public to develop an appreciation of the important phase of 4-H, FFA, and FHA Youth Programs

RULES:

  1. An entry fee of $10.00 will be charged per project.
  2. Project exhibited must have been constructed by FFA, FHA, and 4-H'ers either as a part of their agricultural mechanics instruction in vocational agriculture or as a part of their supervised work experience program.
  3. A project can be exhibited only one time at the Hays County Livestock Show and must have been constructed within one calendar year of the exhibition date.
  4. All projects must be painted or properly treated an must be clean and in a presentable condition even though they may have been used.
  5. A working plan or drawing, (photographs optional) showing construction and a bill of materials are required with each project.
  6. Projects may have been individually or group constructed and may be individually or chapter owned.
  7. All projects are to be identified with standard club exhibitor's cards.
  8. Every precaution will be taken to protect the projects entered, however, neither the Hays County Youth Livestock Show nor the officials of this Division will be responsible for any losses or damage to projects.
  9. Projects must be complete.

AWARDS:

  1. Blue, red, and white ribbons will be awarded for each class according to the awards criteria.
  2. Only Blue ribbon winners will be considered for Division winners.
  3. A Grand and Reserve Champion of the show will be selected from each Division. Only blue ribbon quality will be eligible for Grand and Reserve Champion of the show.
  4. Premium money will be awarded on point value if they do not make the sale.
  5. Showmanship award to be presented to one (1) Junior & one (1) Senior participant.

AWARD CRITERIA:

  1. Projects will be judged based on ideal or superior quality.
  2. Awards will be based on the following:
    a. Workmanship 30 points
    b. Design and materials used 20 points
    c. Oral Presentation with Judge 20 points
    d. Degree of difficulty 20 points
    e. Finish 5  points
    f. Drawings and plans 5  points

     

    Blue 90-100 points Red 80-90 points White 70-80 points

  3. There will be two age divisions:
    Individual:    Junior  - 13 and under    Group: Junior - 13 and under
                     Senior -  14 and over            Senior - 14 and over

SALE:

  1. Grand and Reserve Grand Champion of the show may be sold in the Youth Fair Auction with the approval of the exhibitor.
  2. Division winners may be sold with the approval of the exhibitor.
  3. No minimum bids placed on projects. The exhibitor must to sell or not to sell.
  4. Exhibitors not eligible for the Youth Show Auction may offer their project for sale by placing a "For Sale" sign and a price on the project and moving it to designated area during the Youth Show Auction.

PREMIUM:

  1. Sponsors may be located for the Agricultural Mechanics Project Show. All donated money will be pooled and placed in a premium fund. Funds will be distributed using a point system.
  2. Example:
    Blue 15 Champion 25
    Red 10 Reserve 20
    White 5
    Total premium money donated will be divided by total number of points awarded to determine individual point value. Each individual's total points would be multiplied by point value for premium to be awarded individual.

  10. * Wildlife & exotic game to include equipment used in raising and caring for animals such as deer, llama, turkeys, quail, fish, etc.

  13. Furniture (wood)

  14. Barbecue grills
