Breeding Rules


  1. BEEF CATTLE DIVISION
    1. An entry fee of $15 per head must be received with the entry card.
    2. Heifers eligible for entry may be either purebred or crossbred. Heifer classes will be broken by entries into respective classes in order of judging.  (1) Heifer Calves less than 12 months old.  (2) Junior Heifer over 12 months, and less than 18 months old.  (3) Senior Heifer 18 months and 28 months.
    3. NO CLIPPING BY ELECTRIC OR BATTERY CLIPPERS WILL BE ALLOWED ON THE SHOW GROUNDS.
    4. Breeding Heifers will be validated the 1st Saturday of October between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m..
    5. Class Schedule (BEEF CATTLE) 

    1. Heifers must be 6 months to 28 months.
    2. Heifer classes will be fairly and equitably divided according to age by the Beef Superintendent.
    3. Premium List:  

      Champion - Buckle     Reserve Champion - Buckle

       Jackpotted -80% of Entry Fees as Premium based on point system    20% of Entry Fees as Show Expense

    4. Heifers must be in the barn between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
  2. BREEDING MEAT GOAT
    1. An Entry Fee of $10 per head must be received with the entry card.
    2. All entries in this department are subject to the general rules and regulations published in the General Livestock Rules, as well as the following rules.
    3. Entries must be owned by exhibitor on October 1 prior to show. Registration papers must be in exhibitors name prior to October 1 preceding show. Goats not registered may be exhibited provided that a Voc. Ag. Instructor or County Agent certifies the age and date of ownership on the entry card.  Breeding goats will be validated the 1st Saturday in October between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m..
    4. Exhibitors shall show does only, no bucks.
    5. Breeds: The show is open to any breed or crossbred.
    6. Entries must be disbudded or tipped and groomed for show competition.
    7. The age of the animal will be computed as the age on the day of the show.
    8. Classes will be:  0-12 months, 12-24 months, 2-4 years and over 4 years.
    9. Premium List: Champion - Buckle;  Reserve Champion- Buckle; Jackpotted - 80% of entry fees as Premium based on point system; 20% as Show Expenses. 
    10. NO CLIPPING BY ELECTRIC OR BATTERY CLIPPERS WILL BE ALLOWED ON THE SHOW GROUNDS.
  3. BREEDING EWES
    1. An entry fee of $l0 per head must be received with the entry card.
    2. All entries in this department are subject to the general rules and regulations published in the General Livestock Rules, as well as the following special rules.
    3. Exhibitors must have owned their ewes prior to October 1, preceding show and the ewes shall have been cared for exclusively by the exhibitor during the period from October l, preceding show, to the date of the show as certified by the Voc. Ag. Instructor or the County Extension Agent on the entry card. Breeding ewes will be validated on the 1st Saturday of October between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m..
    4. Purebred ewes will be registered in the exhibitor's name prior to October l, preceding show.
    5. Ewe classes will be fairly and equitable divided according to age by the Sheep Superintendent.
    6. All Breeds: Classes: A. Milk Teeth Yearling  B. Aged Animals
    7. Premium List: Champion - Buckle;   Reserve Champion - Buckle; Jackpotted -80% of Entry Fees as Premium based on point system; 20% as Show Expenses
    8. NO CLIPPING BY ELECTRIC OR BATTERY CLIPPERS WILL BE ALLOWED ON THE SHOW GROUNDS.
  4. BREEEDING GILTS
    1. An entry fee of $l0 per head must be received with the entry card.
    2. All entries in this department are subject to the general rules and regulations published in the General Livestock Rules, as well as the following special rules.
    3. Exhibitors must have owned their gilts by November 1, preceding the show and the gilts shall have been fed and cared for exclusively by the exhibitors during the period from November 1 to the date of the show, as certified by the Voc. Ag. Instructor or County Agent on the entry card.  Breeding gilts will be validated the 2nd Saturday of November between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m..  
    4. Classes will be determined by the number of entries in each breed. Five (5) head will constitute a breed class.
    5. Breeds of gilts that do not constitute a class will be classified as other breeds and show accordingly.
    6. Breeding swine should be farrowed after February l preceding the show. Gilt Classes will be fairly and equitably divided according to age by Swine Superintendent. 
    7. Premium List: Grand Champion - Buckle;  Reserve Champion- Buckle; Jackpotted -80% of Entry Fees as Premium based on Point System; 20% as Show Expenses.
    8. NO CLIPPING BY ELECTRIC OR BATTERY CLIPPERS WILL BE ALLOWED ON THE SHOW GROUNDS.
  5. BREEDING RABBITS
  6. All recognized breeds of rabbits will be eligible. The American Rabbit Breeders Rules will apply. Each rabbit must be clearly and permanently earmarked. All rabbit entries must include ear number, class, sex, and breed. 

    Breeding rabbits will be validated the January 10, 2009 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m..

     The breeding show will be a carrying cage show. Breeding rabbits will arrive the same day as judged. Exhibitors will furnish their own carrying cages for breeding rabbits. All breeding rabbits except those placing lst (first) in any class will be released and removed from the barn after judging. 

    Classes are as follows: 

    1. Pre. Jr. Doe under 3 months
    2. Pre. Jr. Buck under 3 months
    3. Junior Doe 3-6 months
    4. Doe 6-8 months
    5. Senior Doe
    6. f. Junior Buck 3-6 months
    7. Buck 6-8 months
    8. Senior Buck
    9. Premium Money:

      Premium money will be paid for Best of Breed or Best of Opposite Sex of that breed. First Place of each class is eligible for "Best of Show".
