Horse Rules


ELIGIBILITY:
  1. Must be active member of FFA, FHA, or 4-H Clubs in Hays County. (General Rules apply.)
  2. A MINOR'S RELEASE signed by a parent or guardian must accompany all contestants entries.
HORSE OWNERSHIP:
  1. An affidavit of ownership prior to November 1st is necessary to enter grade horses or completed registration papers prior to November 1st (transfer paper work will not be accepted) through the horse's breed registry / association will show ownership in registered horses.
  2. Any person bringing a horse to any Hays County Livestock Show or event must provide proof of a negative Coggins Test within the last twelve (12) months. Failure to provide such proof will result in requiring the person who brought the horse to remove it from the show grounds immediately. Any entry fees paid would be forfeited.
  3. Horses must be owned by the contestant or the contestant's brother, sister, father, mother, grandparents, or legal guardian. l. A contestant may enter as many horses as he/she chooses but shall enter only one per class. 2. There will be two high point award in each of the Junior and Senior age Divisions based on (l) one horse one (l) rider for all class entries. To be eligible for high point award, in junior & senior age division, contestant must enter and participate in a showmanship or halter class. At least one of the western classes (Western Pleasure, Western Horsemanship, Reining, & Western Riding). And at least one of the speed events (Pole Bending, Clover Leaf, Straight Away & Stake Race). 3. All entries must be submitted to the treasurer by December 1st prior to the Show. All classes MUST BE PRE-ENTERED. Premiums will be Jackpotted - 60% as Premium based on point system 40% as Show Expenses.
  4. Showmanship and Riding Classes will be divided into Junior (l3 and under) and Senior (l4 & over) Divisions. Age as of August 31st prior to Show.
  5. All buckle and saddle recipients must write a thank you note and attach photo to their sponsor within 30 days of the show.
  6. The arena will be dragged after 10 runs.

Rules will be based on Texas State 4-H Horse Show Rules as applicable.
