Market Goat Rules
- Exhibitors shall show wethers.
- Entries must be taught to lead and should be shown with a collar or
halter.
- Entries maybe disbudded or horns must be tipped to achieve a blunt end and
groomed for show competition at time of showing subject to superintendent's
discretion.
- Entries will be weighed in - minimum of 60 lb. and maximum weight 120
lbs.
- Market Goats will be exhibited in one or more weight classes. The lst and
2nd place of each class will compete for Champion and Reserve Champion.
- Fitting: the use of talc, oils, or any foreign material is prohibited.
Animals will be sifted from the show. Only water can be used.
- All wethers must be slick shorn at time of arrival and no electric or
battery clippers will be allowed on show grounds. ALL SHEERING WILL BE
PRIOR TO ENTRY OF SHOW GROUNDS. Leg shearing optional.
- Market Goats will be validated the 1st Saturday in October between the
hours of 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. with all milk teeth in place.
- All goats must stay in assigned pens in show barn and may not be kept or
put into trailers or outside pens.
- Class Re-weigh: Wethers must not weigh 5 lbs. more or less of
weigh-in-weight.
- 1st and 2nd place animals in each class will be weighed back and others
at the judges' discretion. Animals not weighing within weigh back limits
will be disqualified.
