Market Lamb Rules
- Ewe and wether lambs are eligible.

- Lambs will first be divided into
finewool, finewool crossbred, medium wools, and southdown breeds. Note: A
finewool crossbred must be a first cross between finewool and medium wool
breeds. All sheep will be classified at weigh in and decisions of the classifier
are final.
- Lambs will be divided into one or more weight classes by breed.
- Weight classes will be determined after weighing by the Superintendent and
Assistant Superintendent of the division.
- All lambs in each class will be
placed.
- All lambs will have a minimum weight of 90 lbs, except Southdowns
which will be 80 lbs.
- All lambs will be slick shorn at time of arrival on
show grounds. Sheering legs is optional.
- There will be a Breed Champion and
Reserve Breed Champion. They will compete for the Grand Champion and the Reserve
Grand Champion of the Show.
- No painting or dyeing will be allowed.
Animals will be sifted from the show.
- Lambs will be validated on the 1st
Saturday of October between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. with milk
teeth in place.
- All lambs must stay in assigned pens in show barn and may
not be kept or put into trailers or outside pens.
- Class Re-weigh: Lambs must not weigh more or less than 5 lbs of weigh-in-weight.
- 1st and 2nd place animals in each class will be weighed back and others
at the judges' discretion. Animals not weighing within weigh back limits will
be disqualified.
