Market Steer Rules

Steers must be halter broke, groomed, and will be slick sheared with hair no longer
than 1/4 inch, optional for the switch and knee and hock down at the show.
NO CLIPPING WILL BE ALLOWED ON SHOW GROUNDS WITH ELECTRIC OR BATTERY CLIPPERS.
All disorderly cattle will be removed from show grounds at the discretion of the Superintendent.
- All steers will be placed in two (2) or more classes, top 2 in each class
will sell and others to be determined by the Board of Directors.
- There will be a 1,000 lb. minimum weight, no maximum weight limit.
- There will be a Grand Champion and a Reserve Champion steer of the show.
- No painting or dyeing will be allowed. Animals will be sifted from the
show.
- Steers will be validated the 1st Saturday of October between the hours of
8:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. and must have milk teeth.
- Steers must be in the barn between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
- Class Re-weigh: Steers must not weigh more or less than 60 lbs of
weigh-in-weight.
- 1st and 2nd place animals in each class will be weighed back and others
at the judges discretion. Animals not weighing within weigh back limits
will be disqualified.
