Market Swine Rules
- Barrow and Gilts are eligible.
- Hogs will be divided by breeds. There must be a minimum of l5 (fifteen)
entries for a breed class. If there are fewer than 15, they will be shown in
OPB Class.
- Market Swine will have a minimum weight of 220 lbs. and a maximum of 265
lbs. Hogs will be exhibited in one or more weight classes by breed. Weight
classes will be determined after weighing by Superintendent and Assistant
Superintendent of the division.
- All hogs in each class will be placed.
- There will be a Breed Champion and Reserve Breed Champion. They will
compete for the Grand Champion and the Reserve Grand Champion of the Show.
- No pasting, painting, powder, etc. is to be used in grooming - only water can
be used. Grooming and clipping is encouraged. No clipping will be allowed on show grounds with electric
or battery clippers; must be done before the show.
- Swine will be validated the 2nd Saturday of November between the hours of
8:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.
- Class Re-weigh: Swine must not weigh 10 lbs. less or 10 lbs. more of
weigh-in-weight.
- 1st and 2nd place animals in each class will be weighed back and others
at the judges discretion. Animals not weighing within the weigh back limits
will be disqualified.
