5k run / Family Walk / Kids race

Well, we had a small but successful event Saturday. We had a break in the weather about 8:30am and decided to "run" with it so to speak. After the 5K we had a few kids (real troopers) that were gung ho to do their race. After I realized we didn't have an orange cone put out for the Kids K turnaround, I jumped on Dr. Moe Johnson's bike (who did the lead out for the 5K) and rode down to the corner of Palamino Rd. and Country Estates Drive in the freezing drizzle with a giant orange cone on the handlebars (what a Kodak moment that was!!). If anyone saw this you may have thought that this sight alone made coming to the race well worth the effort. As the last runners crossed the finish line we all gathered indoors to warm up have some refreshments and give out awards and door prizes, I want to send out a heartfelt THANK YOU to all the volunteers and participants who stuck with me through the bad weather! And thank you to Mr. Fife for generously letting us use his school to host this event. Our fundraising efforts for the Parents Association may not have been what we had hoped this year, but the event put smiles on a lot of faces and there's always next year!
